A Trailblazer Guided By Perseverance
Nkem Onyegbula embarked on his educational journey at Chrisland School, Opebi and continued as one of the pioneering students at Chrisland College in 1987. He pursued Applied Physics and Geophysics at the esteemed University of Lagos, Akoka. After a brief stint as a contractor with Shell Petroleum Development Company, he ventured to the United States, where he obtained an MBA from the University of Tampa, Florida. Nkem garnered valuable professional experience at SYKES Enterprises and Vista Hill Management in Florida before relocating to Canada. There, he joined Deloitte and Touché, ascending to the position of Manager, Human Capital, before eventually establishing his own consulting firm, CYNKON. He also wrote on the competence of effective leadership and communication during the Covid-19 pandemic, that was published on CERIC.CA
Throughout his journey, Nkem drew inspiration from High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) W.A. Awosika (OON), whom he regards as one of his role models. Reflecting on her tenacity while building the school, he admiringly states, "She was focused; she never gave up." Nkem's fondest memories of Chrisland revolve around the intense competition to excel among his peers during his time at the institution.
