Chrisland Schools places great importance on community service as a core value of its educational philosophy. The School believes in instilling in its students a sense of social responsibility, empathy, and a desire to give back to society. Through various community service programs and initiatives, students are encouraged to actively participate in activities that benefit the community and make a positive impact.
These community service activities are designed to provide students with opportunities to engage with the broader community, develop leadership skills, and build character. Students may participate in initiatives such as volunteering at local charities, organising fundraisers for social causes, participating in environmental clean-up campaigns, visiting orphanages and elderly homes, and engaging in mentorship programs for underprivileged children.

Chrisland Pre-Degree Visits The Holy Family HomeOn the bright morning of 19th June 2023, the students and staff of Chrisland Pre-Degree College, Lekki, visited the Holy Family Home for the Elderly, Mushin, Lagos.
The purpose of their visit was to spend time with the elderly residents as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. They brought gifts such as food items and sanitary materials with them to share with the residents. The college was excited to get to know them, discover their stories, and create an enjoyable experience. The visit started with the students taking snapshots with some officials of the Home after which the staff and students’ representatives introduced themselves to the residents, and the initial awkwardness was soon replaced by laughter and prayers. For some students, the visit was an opportunity to understand the challenges faced by the elderly. For others, it was an opportunity to connect with a generation they had never really known. They came away with a newfound respect for the residents and a deeper understanding of the community around them. The Old People's Home visit was a meaningful experience for the students and residents. It allowed the residents to feel valued in a society that often overlooks them. It also helped the students appreciate the contributions of the elderly members of their community and gave them a greater understanding of the importance of intergenerational relationships. Ultimately, the College's visit to the Old People's Home brought different generations together and created a bond that transcended age. The experience gave the students a renewed appreciation for the elderly, and the residents felt less isolated and more valued. The visit was an excellent reminder that we are all part of the same community, regardless of age, and can enrich each other's lives. |
